Be Buckfastleigh is a community project which aims to address health, social and economic inequalities.
Poverty and inequality are hidden in small rural towns, and it is difficult to access services in other bigger places. Which means there is a need for activities and services to be developed locally to reconnect people to each other, and for businesses and social projects to collaborate to meet the needs of their community.
We provide free activities and support for the people of Buckfastleigh and other communities, which connect people to each other, to their environment and where they live.
People are free to choose the activities they are interested in, to improve physical and mental health and wellbeing, and provide pathways to volunteering, training and work.
Ours is a holistic model for Wellbeing which supports citizenship, environmental sustainability and the economy.
We are one of the NESTA Democracy Pioneers, and we work with other regional and national organisations to research issues that affect small rural communities and to find solutions to common problems.
Be Buckfastleigh is a Community Interest Company (CIC) which means we are a not for profit company, with primarily social objectives, and whose profits are reinvested for the benefit of the community.
